A Halloween Show Participant Speaks Up

The following is from Eric Hamilton. One of the core group of the Brooklyn Halloween show……..

“I’m not sure what I’m checking here…but memories…

The stage is live…the audience cold, hungry for their sweets, and not quite sure what to expect. In a makeshift lab set of theater flats, lab table, props, and theater blood, a handful of monster enthusiasts come together to entertain, thrill, and scare trick-or-treaters and their parents with classic re-enactments of favorite scenes from classic horror movies. Dr. Frankenstein or an Egyptian priest pontificate maniacally as they threaten to bring the dead to life or share in the mysteries of everlasting life. As the background music reaches it’s crescendo, the mummy or homunculus rises, the vampire hisses, the werewolf growls, the golem lumbers, the 40-story beasts level a city block…and then the fun really begins. Children of all ages squeal as the Brooklyn-beasts clash. Rubber snakes, fake blood, and flour-caked dust projectiles out of the “fourth wall”, making the audience part of the show. Favorite monsters are called out a s champions and the kids root for their favorites to win.”
